Water Baptism

What is Baptism?
Water baptism is an act of obedience to God’s word and is an outward display of what has happened in the heart and life of a believer. Whenever someone comes to Christ and receives the gift of salvation by grace, their life is transformed, their sins are forgiven and they receive eternal life. They are “born again” in the Spirit and their hearts and lives are restored and made alive to God. Jesus Christ becomes Lord of their lives. This inward transformation is expressed as a testimony to the world through water baptism. Baptism is an outward display of the inner workings of God’s grace. Therefore, baptism is not salvation, but the opportunity for a believer to unashamedly testify of the goodness of God.
Romans 8:2-4 describes this transformation so clearly.
As such, we believe that water baptism was ordained and sanctioned by God as an ordinance that His Church would display to the world – revealing His love and abundant grace put toward us.
